LGCM - General Synod                                                                      February 2004

LGCM member, Revd Anthony Braddick-Southgate (diocese of Southwark) tabled the following Private Members Motion (PMM) at the February 2004 Session of the General Synod of the Church of England.

'This Synod commends the 2003 General Convention of the Episcopal Church (ECUSA) for approving the decision of the Diocese of New Hampshire to consecrate Gene Robinson as a bishop in the Church of God; noting in particular that this was the democratically expressed wish of the majority of Episcopalians, a Church in which we have full confidence and in which we, members of the General Synod of the Church of England, gladly remain in full communion.'

Members of the General Synod are urged to sign the Motion please. If it gains sufficient signatories it may be debated before the General Synod is dissolved in July 2005. All PMM are deemed to have 'fallen' at the end of the quinqennial. Elections will be held for a new General Synod in the summer of 2005.
