Lesbian and Gay Anglicans Join in Prayer At Primates Meeting

As the meeting of Primates begins in Lambeth Palace thousands of gay and lesbian clergy and millions of lesbian and gay Anglicans throughout the world join in prayer to support the work of this crucial meeting.

Speaking about possible outcomes, The Revd Richard Kirker, General Secretary of the Lesbian and Gay Christian Movement said today: (October 15)

"We pray that the decisions made at the Primates Meeting will allow lesbian and gay Anglicans to live without fear in their Church.

"We pray that the Anglican Church will become an inclusive church, where all who love Jesus are welcomed to Baptism and all offices of the church irrespective of their sexuality.

"We pray for a Church free of prejudice, hatred and sexual discrimination.

"We hope the Primates will accept the need for a Commission to study the differing theological views and cultural perspectives around Human Sexuality.

"We hope unity will be maintained.

"We hope none will be threatened.

"We hope all will be willing to listen

"We long for justice."
