Sharon visited the South Wales local group on the Friday night where she opened the meeting with a time of reflection as candles of the lgbt rainbow were lit. She then updated the group on all the things that have been going on over the last year and the plans for the future. The group were asked to think about possible names for the organisation following the request at the last AGM to start discussions about finding a more inclusive name.
The meeting closed with refreshments and social time.

On Saturday 3rd September, Cardiff held its Mardi Gras celebration. The local group had a stall at the event and Sharon joined them to hand out information about both national LGCM and the local group. Stephen Green from the Christian Voice was standing outside the park gates with a colleague and they were handing out leaflets to those coming to the Mardi Gras telling them that all homosexuals will go to hell. Sharon joined several members of the local group in speaking to everyone with a leaflet and offering them the opportunity to deposit it in the recycle bin. South Wales LGCM now has a bin full of scrap paper. Last year they turned the leaflets into a paper mache cross. I’m looking forward to seeing what they will create from this homophobic and abusive literature this year!
