Welcome to the Lesbian & Gay Christian Movement

All the world's major religions are faced with having to come to terms with a modern understanding of homosexuality. The place of gay and lesbian people in the life of the Church is currently Christianity's most divisive issue. Confronting homophobia is its greatest challenge. The Lesbian and Gay Christian Movement is proclaiming a basic Christian truth. It is working for the very love and freedom that Christ brings to his people through his life, death and resurrection. LGCM is working for love, for peace, for justice, and for the promotion of the Christian faith especially within the LGBT community.

    About Anthony

One moment in time can change your life forever.  A circumstance or experience brings a shift.  A new conscious awakes.  We are forced to make choices.  That moment transforms the way we do life, relationships and our world-view.  We are transformed and life will never be the same again.

Former high profile Christian preacher, Anthony Venn-Brown, understands the impact of defining moments; he’s had several.  After dinner, Anthony will share three of his most profound and life changing moments:

    • Firstly, when he lost everything he’d worked for and cared about. In less than 60 seconds the Anthony Venn-Brown everyone had come to know ceased to exist.
    • The second, when he chose forgiveness over resentment, which empowered him to move on and begin life afresh.
    • Thirdly, in a swimming pool at Chichen Itza, Mexico, when a moment of clarity launched him into becoming a best selling author, ambassador for the LGBT community and twice voted one of The 25 Most Influential Gay and Lesbian Australians.

You’ll be moved, inspired and challenged as Anthony shares beyond the pages of his autobiography “A Life of Unlearning – a journey to find the truth”.  ”In life we either become bitter or better. Our responses to life’s experiences determine which one we become’.

Anthony Venn-Brown was a leader in the Assemblies of God and a popular preacher in the mega-churches of Australia such as Hillsong.  After 22 years of counselling, exorcisms, ‘ex-gay’ programs and marriage he was forced to face reality.  Nothing had changed; he was still gay.  After his resignation from the ministry and public confession, he struggled to come to terms with the loss of his friends, faith and purpose.

Anthony is now a dedicated ambassador for the LGBT community, promoting respectful dialogues, educating people about sexuality and assisting people to resolve the perceived conflict between their faith and their sexuality.  His award winning autobiography ‘A Life of Unlearning’ is now in its second print and he has appeared on Australian national TV programs such as 60 minutes, Sunrise, the Morning Show and Mornings with Kerri Anne.  Anthony is also the Co-founder and President of Freedom 2 b[e] and was twice voted one of the 25 Most Influential Gay and Lesbian Australians.
